My Students

June 1 & 2, 2010 "California Rag Wall Doll"

Dottie Millington and Maryann Thompson wanted to make a CALIFORNIA RAG WALL DOLL. We discussed, ahead of time, what supplies they would need. After their supplies were purchased, we got together and I gave them each a peg loom and taught them how to warp it and cut their fabric into strips and weave. Also at home they cut, sewed and stuffed their doll's arms and legs and prepared the belt, cuffs, and neck piece.

On June 1 and 2, 2010, when they came to my home, they cut, sewed, stuffed, needle sculpted and then painted their doll's face and then cut and sewed and added an armature to their doll's hands. They then sewed the bodice to the woven skirt, attached the hands to the arms and the arms to the bodice and the legs to the skirt. Finally they attached the neck to the bodice and added the head. The final step was to add the doll's hair. They did a wonderful job.
